Mission

FloridaView advances Earth observation education, remote sensing practice, and access to authoritative geospatial resources for Florida. As a StateView program within the AmericaView network, FloridaView connects national Earth observation capacity to Florida-specific environmental, educational, and workforce needs.

Our commitments

  1. Education — publish practical, maintainable learning materials for students, educators, researchers, and professionals.

  2. Data access — guide users to trustworthy state and national data sources while preserving provenance and avoiding unnecessary duplication.

  3. Applied learning — connect remote sensing methods to Florida-relevant challenges including coasts, wetlands, water, vegetation, and urban systems.

  4. Workforce development — help learners build transferable geospatial and Earth observation skills through reproducible, hands-on workflows.

  5. Continuity — maintain open, versioned resources that can be updated by future FloridaView contributors without rebuilding the platform.

Part of AmericaView

AmericaView is a nationwide, university-based, state-implemented network that advances Earth observation education through remote sensing science, applied research, workforce development, technology transfer, and community outreach. FloridaView carries that mission into Florida through locally relevant training, data discovery, and applied geospatial learning.
