FloridaView is a gateway, not a duplicate archive. Large datasets remain with durable repositories or the agencies that steward them, while FloridaView organizes the links, context, tutorials, and interactive products that help users work with those data.
Where FloridaView data lives¶
| Need | Home | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Website pages, tutorials, figures, small downloads | GitHub Pages | Versioned, transparent, easy to maintain |
| Interactive maps and web layers | ArcGIS Online | Designed for web mapping and exploration |
| Large downloadable teaching/research datasets | Zenodo or authoritative source | Durable archive, citation, versioning |
| State/federal source data | Original agency portal | Keeps provenance and updates with the steward |
FloridaView LiDAR lab data¶
The LiDAR learning path is published now. The associated large teaching datasets will be cataloged here only after their source, rights, spatial reference, version, checksum, and durable download location are verified. Until then, the data packages remain in preparation rather than linking to uncertain copies.
